  You can always attach the image as an attachment, use the reference to a website url
  
  Example: Put your image on your website and then in your email put
  <img src=""http://www.yourwebsite.com/imagenam…
  
  This way you can see the image in the email and it is not physically attached.

  Use Mozilla Thunderbird, With the help of it you can always copy-and-paste pictures right into the email. Bring the picture up in something that can display it, CTRL/C it and paste it where you want it.
