  If a book u want is available through distribution, you can call the store and ask them to bring it into the store for you. When the book arrives, they will phone you and you then go to the store, examine the book and if you want to purchase it, and you pay then.

  You can order a book to be shipped and pay for it at the store. However, if the book is a used one only available through the second-hand booksellers affiliated with Barnes & Noble, you will have to pay with either a credit card or a Barnes & Noble gift card. So if you have to pay in cash or by check, you would need to purchase a gift card first.I know this cause I work at Barnes & Noble.

  Yea call them or go there, and tell them what book you want. They will order it from another store and you can come pick it up. It won't cost you extra.
