I need a quality bike for my beyond wonderful, eight years old niece moving up from a twenty inch bike?
I need advice on purchasing a quality bike. Any suggestions on twenty-four inch wheel bikeshop bike that is under $180?

It’s better if u buy a slightly used bike. Kids don't normally fit this size bike for more than 2 years. By the time they turn 10-11 yrs old, they will be in a 26 inch wheeled bike (unless they are short). With your budget, you will get a better bike too. A decent bike shop quality bike will be over 200US.

An 8 year old child is usually not ready for a 24 in wheel. Bring her into the local bike shop that sells Trek, Specialized, Raleigh, (all quality bikes). They should have a cruiser with foot brakes available. Stay away from the Department store, (toy store) even if they sell Schwinn.

I would suggest trying to find her a bike with disk brakes over v-brakes. v-brakes are an *** to try and fix if you don't know what your doing and usually turn mushy and non-responsive after a month. disk brakes last long and don't need alot of tune-ups (unless hydro, but you won't find one with hydro's).
