My Hot shoe flash basically depletes four Duracell batteries after a day or two of usage. I can't buy a faster changing flash as it is too expensive. Can anyone tell me which AA battery is best for me to use?

Try use any of the rechargeable 'Nicad' or NiMi batteries for the flash, they will last longer. One big reason is that the internal resistance of these types of batteries are much lower then regular Alkaline batteries, and as a result you will find your flash will recycle faster.
