  I know what you mean about the gaudy style bedding, most of it is very off the wall cheesy.

  minus the stripe sheets underneath, in black and white its gorgeous.
  
  Target now, has alot of really cute bedding styles that you can choose from.
  
  If that doesnt suit your taste, you can always mix and match, for instance you can get a solid colour duvet cover and then find some sheets that match what you want. Mix with different colours and styles, it would look very cute.

  You could go for several different styles...I wouldn't go for the hearts or objects of any kind, maybe some cool colors which reflect your tastes. Dark wood, dark plums, great colors to use as a base. You can brighten them up with white and lighter shades of green, even use some coral or yellow that blend in well. Go to a cool store and look at home furnishings, even throw pillows and wall decorations and build from something you especially like. Sounds like a great time!

  Check out some different websites such as Crate and Barrel, Pier 1 Imports, etc. I know what you mean about 'prissy' furniture - I'm not a fan either. And, at age 15 you don't want to buy anything juvenile. You might also want to consider second hand stores for unique and or antique type pieces. You should get a new mattress but don't worry about getting a matching headboard or even getting a headboard. You can get many different pillows instead. Good luck.
